Hair Loss Affects Us All - Not Just Your Father

Although hair loss is considered to be prevalent in men, it is also something that affects women. Chances are, regardless of sex, everyone will be affected at some point in your life, whether personally or someone you love. Studies have shown that about 50% of men and 20% of women will suffer from thinning hair or baldness in their lifetime.

It is historically believed that hair loss is caused by genes passed down from one's mother. Recent medical research began to put that ideology into question. While it is true that the genetic characteristics, the exact way that has moved is still unknown, but may very likely be a combination of genetic traits, with perhaps one or both parents.

Everyone of us may be affected in a different way. Some will have their hair begin to thin, but will never go completely bald. Others will develop a pronounced 'widows peaks "in the front. Some people will lose their hair just crown their heads, while others will lose it all.

Just because the hair loss will affect almost all of us, does not mean that we let him. Today there are various products on the market, either prescription or over the counter, offering to stop the loss in its tracks, or maybe even turn it over and see the new hair growth. If you are past the point of no return, there are other options such as hair replacement transplants.

Each person must decide what is right for them. You accept your fate, and that nature take its course, or you can start taking vitamins, Rogaine or Propecia to prevent further hair loss, or more drastic measures in order to fully correct. Everyone is unique, and should consult a physician before beginning any treatment.
